R1R's and 15 inch vs 16

Postby nicowalker1 » Wed 26.06.2013, 21:19

its nearly time to change my rubber

Firstly R1Rs have been out a while now and I'm sure a few on here had them fitted, how have they done? Wear, Grip, Wet grip etc? Track use vs Road?

secondly have people noticed much difference when going from 15 inch rims to 16 with ride quality due to the lower profile? We have so many terrible road surfaces here that I've been advised against it by a couple of people.
I do have a set of S2 wheels ready but they need a really good refurb

All comments tips etc gladly received (as long as relevant Geoff, Pinky, Spud etc!!!)

Well... I would put another set of R1R's on my 16"S2 wheels without hesitation.
Grip on the dry is phenomenal, and in the wet a whole lot better than I'd expected. In the wet the grip is even better than my Vredestein summer tyres. (those are rubbish anyway)
When drive them on the limit over a longer period of time they tend to start smearing a little. When on a track day, this is an indication to take a break. Pickup and wear when smearing is heavy so you want to avoid that.
