Dump Valve advice please?

Hi,

I recently bought this Bailey DV24 dump valve on eBay from someone who had removed it from their Elan. It came with a turbo hose and the fitting kit so was really easy to fit :



At first I quite liked the noise, but after a few days (ok minutes) the novelty soon wore off!

Is there any way I can make it queiter?

I'm guessing the answer is probably no, short of wrapping the whole thing in foam - but I'm not sure that would be safe or if it would even work.

I'm wondering however if I could replace it with a Bailey DV30 recirculating dump valve which I think will simply fit on the same samco hose but will then need somewhere to plumb the outlet pipe in to. The logical place obviously is the trash can but I don't really want to cut that so maybe I could just attach a length of hose to a breather filter? Would that work?

Can anyone offer any advice? Is there a better alternative to the DV30 ?

Basically I want a fairly quiet dump valve but don't want to spend a fortune and don't want to get too complicated as my mechanical skills are very limited. I think I can handle a small amount 'whoosh' noise but not the very loud 'whoosh' the DV24 gives.

There are varieties that allow plumbing the vent to the bottom of the car. People have used K&N style filters on these to suppress noise. Mine has no filter and just vents down.

I think you will find you can't make yours quieter as it only vents to atmosphere, I have a dv30 which is a recirculating valve and is almost silent as i vent it back into the trash can

The valve exits the excess air through the 4 cut outs at the end of the fixture at vacuum hose.
If you could cut out and place a coffee can over this area the noise will be baffled.
I have seen a beer can used
Or get a different valve.

Thanks for the advice so far, I'm thinking recirculating valve is the way to go.
