1. your attitude towards life expenses are largely influenced by the degree to which they will delay desired Elan upgrades, repairs or maintenance.

1. your attitude towards life expenses are largely influenced by the degree to which they will delay desired Elan upgrades, repairs or maintenance.
2. errands are not consolidated, but instead are divided into separate trips by the most interesting routes available.
3. you live by the motto: if it's not raining, roof down!
4. you're overtaken by a Ferrari and you think "I'll 'ave 'im when the bends start!"
5.When your friends baby leaves a wet patch on your right knee and you just shrug it off as " I'm used to it, its no problem"
6. What can I sell next to keep it on the road?
7. When you take any twisty route rather than a motorway
8. When you've spent more to keep it on the road than it cost to buy.
9. When your loft isn't just full of insulation.
10. When you just have to add your name to a list to buy some part you will probably never need
11. you drive one of the most limited production cars on the road today, but when a problem arises you're just minutes away from answers/solutions/parts from fellow owners who often stop what they were otherwise doing to offer assistance (often from halfway around the globe).
12. you spot any Elan's registration number and say "oh yes, that one is <insert name here>'s car"!
13. going to a car show is allot like going to a beauty pageant – it’s fun to look at the sexy new models, but you know they can also be temperamental, high maintenance, and expensive, while what’s at home still looks good, and with good maintenance is still a good performer.
14. Its the only thing you repair that isn't broken
14. Your Technical English vocabulary improves dramatically with each new problem that arises.
15. There's plenty of braking distance to stop in time - aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!
16. You have early onset arthritis in your left or right knee (the affected knee is the opposite side to the steering wheel location)
17. You know you really should sell it when it goes wrong but you know you just can't when it's fixed.
18. You are buying a second one so you have always one in reserve!
19. You can shrug off being burnt off by a ponce in a poncy merc sl bla bla bla traction control, launch control, 3.0l bla bla
20. You know the true meaning of the Lotus position!
21. You know your car's noises as if it were R2-D2 talking to you, and think the "soundtrack" of new cars is a bit boring.
22. You know you'll never find anything to replace it and you still turn and smile at your Elan like a giggly kid after years of ownership!
23. The popping and farting that used to annoy you is now rather intoxicating and you deliberately drive through tunnels blipping the throttle to make it happen.
24. You wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, having just had a nightmare which included some creep named boost and his sidekick Rusty Wishbone.
25. You drive home for 3 hours in a modern car after visiting rellies in the south, then immediately get in the Elan, top down, to drive for another hour to nowhere in particular...
26. The fire truck roars by and you say to complete strangers, "Is my Lotus on fire.....AGAIN?"
27. Your are diagnosed with Olecranon Bursitis (yes really ! Look it up) caused by contact with the centre consul storage box when changing gear.
28. Minor issues are not a problem, they just give the car character.
29. It's the only thing you repair that isn't broken
30. You let other cars out of junctions just so you can watch the smile on the other drivers' faces when the headlights pop up.
