Powerloss

Postby de_stanny » Tue 21.05.2013, 03:11

Hi All,

i have noticed that my red baby is going like crazy when cold , read not on the 1/4 temp scale point . but once she is on that 1/4 temp point and i push her at the trafic light she is noticable slower.
do you guys/girls see the same ? i must say i run a MBC so the boost is not limited by the ECU when completly cold.

i know that the egnition is retarded when she is on normal running temp versus when she is cold but the diff is enorm ,,,,

greetz ,

I would do an elanscan and check CTS and MAT

I don't understand your comment about the engine timing.

You should set the base timing in test mode and then run the elanscan to see what is going on. At normal temp, the timing should not change from the cold setting. Remember, the CTS for the ECM is different than that for the gauge and fans (separate senders). Maybe the ECM is getting a false reading.

Also look at all of the hoses from the turbo to the intake as one of them might have come loose and is leaking at pressure. The ones under the clamshell can't be heard when they leak, so physically inspect the entire delivery system.

Let us know what you find.

Hi Guys,

thanks for the input , will check the sensors with elanscan , they should read about the same when cold wright ...

my egnitionpoint is set at 16 dbtc at temp as it should be , i have read somewhere that when the car is not on operating temp it is giving more spark advance, will try to make a log to see if that is correct ,

will keep you guys posted , dont think i have a leak , but will check the hoses again, wouldnt a leak show an unstable rpm at tickover ? its not doing that arouns 1100 rpm .

thx

The leak I suggest looking for is on the boost side, not the vacuum side. If some of the boost doesn't get to the intake, you have less power...

Hi
Did you ever get to the bottom of the power loss ? sometimes I get the impression that mine too is not quite so fast when warm.
