Oil pressure sender thread size/location

Can anyone advise what it required to fit a Stack oil pressure gauge> i have been told the sender is 1/8npt/ M10x1 is that the same as the standard gauge? or will i need a adaptor

This is what it says
Please note: Bar scale gauges are supplied with metric M10x1 male fittings, PSI scales gauges are supplied with imperial 1/8NPT male fitting

If i get the chance this weekend ill get somone to fit the gauges, As the Elan is tucked away in a Carcoon (& its a pain to un-zip the thing) where is the oil pressure sender located? i have tried a search with no luck but ime guessing it will be a pain to get at......

You're right -it IS a pain to get at! IIRC it's in the middle of the back of the block.

It is THE single most hard sensor to reach unfortunately

Tip - take your belt off, or put a thick towel over your clamshell. You don't want metal belt buckle to meet delicate paintwork.

If he's referring to what I now think he's referring to, and his looks like a clamshell, then I'd recommend "the clinic" rather than a shrink, cos he's got serious problems about 3 feet down from his head!

I ended up taking the Elan to a garage to fit the gauges, They are now cursing me The 1/8 npt oil pressure sender which came with the Stack gauge doesnt fit Any ideas what the standard oil pressure sender thread is so i can hopfully get an adaptor.

Take all your new fittings and the old one to your local Pirtek (or any other hydraulic supplier). They will soon identify the threads and probably supply an adapter.

It gets worse The good news is the Stack 1/8npt sensor might fit as they have taken out the wrong sensor, the bad news is i have been told its the knock sensor they have taken out by mistake and damaged it getting it out they have ordered a new one
I think he said that they have had to take the inlet manifold off to gain access The Lotus specialist who they have ordered the knock sensor from as told them that its imposible to change the oil pressure sensor without taking the engine out fliping heck im starting to think i should have left the old gauges in
Any advice appeciated........

You may want to PM LotusGirlMarie. I know she's done a lot of work on replacing gauges and senders in the past but I don't know if she's ever tackled the OP sensor. Worth a try perhaps.

I am gonna try to replace a pressure sensor soon.

My plan is to work from below. Nasty part is that the oil filter needs to be removed to gain access to the sensor. Once the filter is out i think i will be able to get the sensor out 'by feel'
