Wastegate wiggle

Hi Guys I am new to this Turbo business and all its associated bits and pieces ( brought up on Alfas with Webbers and Dellortos) have read a lot about the wiggle and thought I would try wiggling my wastegate tonight ,seems OK but movement is only through 45 degrees does anyone know if this is the norm.

I thought the movement of the actuator rod was in a horizontal plane ? Correct me if I'm wrong

Is it not working then?
You should only need to wiggle it free if it seizes open or closed.

Thanks for the reply, as I understand it the actuator rod operates ( push/pull ) on a lever which in turn operates a spindle (rotational) into the wastegate .
Question is degrees of movement on the lever/spindle ??

Hi has anyone a pic of this said actuator as I think my waste gate is stuck from the feedback I have been getting,cheers

Check out the Wiki, there it shows the whole unit removed from the car for clarity, but to release the waste gate all you need to do is grip the shaft with something (pliers, mole grip, etc) and move it from side to side.

Hi all moved the rod to free the waste gate,seems to open and close as you can hear the change in tone in the tick over but still the boost gauge doesn't seem to move

Check the earth on the boost gauge transducer on the inner wing, drivers side has a red/orange rubber cover.
