Wheel bolts are a pain in the back

Ever had trouble fitting your wheels in a confined space?
Ricked my back a few years ago struggling to get it all lined up. Problem is the offset does not let the wheel hang very well so getting that first bolt in is a pain. What ever was wrong with studs and nuts?
Solved it back then by machining down an old bolt to act as a guide pin - works well but a tad too short.
Had occasion to use one of these during the week - brilliant .
Was thinking of maybe making some up but at this price I can't be bothered

Agreed, they are a pain.

Some years back I did a group buy to provide studs and chrome nuts.

Vauxhall use bolts & Lotus don't redesign anything unless they have to.

Audi supply a plastic guide pin in the tool kit which might be useful in a confined space. I haven't tried to see if
it would fit the Elan.

And I thought that it was just me who finds wheel bolts annoying. It was so much easier screwing wheels onto my Riley 1.5!

I had an Audi for a while; I had that little pin for less time. Seems that they tend to break since they are made of...wait for it....plastic.

I bought a couple of replacement lug bolts and keep them in the tool kit. They work fine and are likely not to break.
