And they say you can't teach and old dog new tricks!

Congrats. I bet your hands were shaking after you finished.

I can't even see a .5mm pitch clearly without thick glasses.

Nice one!

Remembers me of the days when i overclocked Toshiba Libretto's (Laptop the size of a VHS Video Tape)
164 pins processor and i needed to solder pin 13something to a 5V source on the PCB Most challenging was marking the correct pin, not the soldering, haha!

in the end i painted all feet black, except the one i needed to solder. :chair:

What are you all talking about?
I expect this sort of random lunacy from Geoff, however it's a sad day when several people have replied without taking the piss.
What has happened to this great online community?

(and if you get Chris to fix the forum so it doesn't show things as 'not posted' I wouldn't have to do so much editing)

Except he had it easy - the green layer is solder resist which helps stop the solder bridging between the pins. He's probably younger than me as well before the geologit and ex-plod say anything.

And today I did it again. But this time, just to make it interesting, they had had their encapsulation etched away so the die were exposed.

While I can't argue the factual accuracy of that statement, I'm pretty sure that it's not what I replied at the time.
I guess I'll just have to take out a subscription to "Soldering Today", "Hot Irons", "Get Fluxed" or whatever Geoff's been reading too much of recently.

Not quite 'today' but is still making me giggle

Was an extra playing a zombie for ZombieEarth in Leicester scaring the paying 'survivors' who had to pass through our zone to collect their next clue!

Awesome fun and a super event!

Just completed a minor home improvement project - I'm really pleased with the result. In fact I believe it's one of the best one hour projects I've ever completed in eight hours.

What made me smile today?...: well, certainly not all the bloody tricks to access and remove the outer door strips I had to discover and test  , and sorry guys... despite all very valuable advises and 'do-it-youself' guides. Now I just hope that reinstalling everything back will not bring additional mess or trap.

That gives us non-mechanics lots of confidence when we tackle the project! Any help in the relevant thread would be
of great assistance. Will probably wait until New Year now before I/we make any start on it.

Had to smile to myself at this. It would be cheaper to buy the car itself (just!)
