Hi
I'm back in a M100 Elan again. I managed to pick up a project car. I have a huge list of stuff to do with the most important being the hood and seals. With the help of DavidEJM I was able to purchase a second hand hood and frame. Originally I just swapped the intermediate seals on to my car but this didn't work very well and looked sh*t.
So, I changed the whole hood and frame instead which was 4 hours of fun! Anyway its done now and the hood needs a good clean and a very small patch in the canvas.
Yesterday I was in £land buying various bits and bobs. I remembered that the roof I had bought had a small split in the screen that had been covered in duck tape. In the said shop they have various cheap and mostly nasty car parts but I did observe some tape for covering broken indicator lenses. In this packet are red, orange and Clear tapes so I thought I would buy some.
So I cleaned the rear window with some of that aircraft cleaning fluid that takes out the cloudiness and then stuck on the clear patch. Well for the cost the effect is brilliant and I'm well pleased and I can still see clearly out of the window
A excellent/unbroken front hood grab handle-unit will be for sale in the classifieds once I take a picture

this is the one that I have used for many years with good success. If you are brave enough you can use it with a rotary polisher for the very best results.
Don't forget to do the inside too as this also suffers from the tiny scratches that cause the cloudy effect

T-cut (metallic paint) is what I have used - it's a bit time consuming, and a PITA to do it all without leaving marks, but gives good (cheap, 'cos it was already in the garage) results.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?
