How far is it from Milton Keynes to Swindon? You should arrange a meetup with Rip - you could consider a seat swap - I reckon both would benefit!

I think purple seats in a purple car would be a bit too much! I'm very happy with the cream ones thanks!

Welcome, Kathryn!

I lurked here for a couple of years, learning about the Elan and waiting for the right opportunity. All that came to fruition three years ago when I bought my M100. I have wanted a Lotus since I was 18 ... let's just say I waited quite some time for it.

The support and resources available to you on this site are fantastic! This is an amazing community of people who seem to happily go that extra mile for one another.

And the car will exceed your expectations. Read through the material here carefully and make certain that someone else already discovered the bad crank angle sensor (CAS) and repaired the HGF (head gasket failure), etc. I have pretty much doubled the mileage on mine since I bought it and have had only a couple of minor issues that in no way diminish the joy and fun.

Lucky you!!

Welcome to Elan ownership, and to LEC.

Is your car to be a sunny weekend car, or one for everyday use?

She will be my daily driver when I sell my other car, but I walk to work (or at least I'm going to have to get back into the habit of doing so!) so she'll be mainly used weekends and days off.

Had my Elan serviced yesterday and I'm pleased to say my concerns that she would cost me a fortune were completely unfounded! I'm happy to report that I have a "nice, genuine car". :D
I've been reluctant to drive her too far as the last recorded service was in 2008, now I'm confident to drive her further! Shame the weather forecast for this weekend isn't great. :(

Great News! I hope you enjoy your new car - just keep a towel handy (for your knee) when it is raining...

Oh yes, I have a towel in the car! It was raining pretty much all day on Thursday and if I hadn't had to take the Elan out I wouldn't have done! All that polishing on Monday has gone to waste, she is filthy now!

I passed the 2000 mile mark yesterday, so I've done in just over three months what she'd done in the past three years! The poor car must wonder what's happening! She's going well and I'm really happy with her. :D
I've had no problems since replacing the o2 sensor, although the passenger door catch is still playing up, but since it's been greased it is easy to poke it back in to position. :?
I received my new registration document with her original registration today, now I'm waiting for the rest of the docs to arrive so I can get the number plates changed. :)
