Discussion of prices of Elans advertised for sale on LEC is prohibited in open forum, private discussion is perfectly acceptable. A separate area for discussion of prices of Elans not advertised on LEC and market value generally is available in the 'Elan Buying Help section' of the 'For Sale' area.
I agree Will B could feel a bit disgruntled. I personally have never been interested in discussing prices, can't think of anything more boring, Elan ownership for me is a hobby activity/indulgence which costs money so until I come to sell my car the value of it is irrelevant. The other argument of course is that members are providing advice which could be useful to a prospective purchaser but frankly looking at the posts over the years regarding individual cars then these very often descend into to either unconstructive comments and/or Banter.
However there seems a great temptation for many to discuss prices and make comments and bearing in mind that no one pays to advertise their cars on here, there is a strong argument to say we should be free to comment on cars advertised on here as well as elsewhere for example eBay or elsewhere.
In this thread it was suggested by a mod in a gentle and in my mind a friendly and inoffensive way that a relatively new poster had made comments which were inappropriate. Unlike others he had seen the car and hence his opinion has some validity and his intention was clearly to be constructive and I feel he was entitled to express it on this site. That not to say I necessary agree or disagree with his comments.
In addition this criticism seems rather harsh bearing in mind a mod recently commented elsewhere without recriminations.
