Chassis query

Hi I have an Élan M While trying to find paint code I looked at the original sales invoice Mann Edgerton ,It has correct engine, chassis numbers that match with chassis under the wheel arch and engine number but states Calypso Red ,

The car is Medina Green or Aqua blue (and is what I am trying to find out).

The car has never been resprayed,that I am 100% certain everything is as should be ,Any Ideas anybody please

Sorry, but I don't quite understand the question - are you asking for someone to explain how it happened, or tell you what colour it is (without seeing it)?!?

Neither I know it is B018 or B06 and blue on the V5 and Blue on the Owners handbook
What I am trying to query is there is any ideas why it should have Calypso Red on original Sales Invoice.
I will phone customers service Monday to see what it was turned out in,but looking for any interim options

Try ringing Lotus. They probably still have the records from the build line because they store all that kind of stuff, although it may take them a few days to dig them out of the archive. It would be worth asking for John Hostler to see if he's still around. He was on the original project and has always been very helpful, but he may have retired now.

Two things you can do...

First thing, have a look in the engine bay (front of the clamshell) there is a 4" white label, on there is some pertinent details to the car, often the paint code is there next to the VIN and Hethel address.

Second, contact Andy Graham at Lotus archives, he has access to the build books, for a £30 odd quid he'll provide a certificate of provincance. I have his email addy should you require it.

That's "Certificate of Provenance", not conformance. Basically, it is the build data specifically for each car. They usually also include the "Window Sticker" which shows the original price for the car.

It's basically a little snap shot about your car at the time of manufacture...

So things like colour, trim spec, chassis number, engine number...

In addition who sold the car, if the car was made for something specific... Motor show, testing etc

Basically Andy will have a look in the build book and tell you as much as he legally can.

It's not an amazing piece of paper, but nice to have all the same.
