gold alloys?

Thinking of having my elan alloys refurbished and at the same time going from silver to gold.
My elan is red, I just thought it might look a little different?
Has this been done before or has anyone seen a red elan with gold wheels?
Opinions or any pictures welcome .

Well, my personal choice would be a big fat NO

Black wheels or silver wheels look good with red (maybe even white?)

That said, It's YOUR car, not mine, and feel free to do your own thing!

There are other options - firstly, do your wheels need a re-paint anyway? If so, then you are probably better off deciding before they're done....

.... for the sake of a couple of quid down the local shop, get a gold spray can and give a wheel a squirt - see how it looks - if you like it, then get them all done (yourself or elsewhere) in that colour.

How about vinyl wrapping? Then if you don't like it, you can peel it off (I did a set in black whilst trying to decide if I wanted Matt, Gloss or Satin) - now decided on Gloss black and they're in for strip/powdercoat at the end of the week.

It's all down to personal choice at the end of the day - whatever you're happy with.

going along with dave's points....... have you tried plastidip? it comes in many different colours and is a rubberised coating so it can be painted/sprayed on your wheels and if you don't like it can be removed.....if i remember correctly hj2 did hes wheels in black with silver detailing using this paint..... he basically painted the whole wheels black and then cut around the sections he wished detailed and then removed the plastidip from the area

Well they need a refurb anyway as they are a bit tatty!
So i like daves idea of painting one gold before they go in to see what it looks like.
I think it would be a bit different from going the usual silver route.

Gold wheels don't do it for me, I'm afraid. In fact, silver wheels don't really go with the red & black colour scheme either, but silver is so much the conventional colour for wheels, that we have become conditioned to accept it.

In my view, black is the right colour.

Ohh, I didn't realise it was your Elan but just photoshopped Geoff - I'd forgotten that conversation (although unfortunately I hadn't forgotten the vomit inducing subject of my previous rant within it)!
The pic Rambo quoted looked so good I thought it was real. In fact I prefer it to the new version, the wider gold stripe is just a bit too "in yer face" for me.
I reckon that colour scheme (or G UK's JPS of course) is about the only way you could get away with gold wheels, but hey, it's just personal taste and we're all entitled to our opinions...

It doesn't look too bad, makes a nice difference from all the other red elans for sure. Now I wonder what hold wheels on steel blue would look like haha

I think the gold is too orangey. A more yellow gold would look better.
Advice on colour from me is dangerous.... I chose purple seats for my Elan.
