The ultimate shame....

Postby GeoffSmith » Sun 29.06.2014, 20:47

.... I've got Jock blood.

Meet great, great grandfather Robert Moffit Tait (yes, the old bearded one at the back) born in Leitholm in the Borders - less than 10 miles from Duns so it's not all bad.

Book about the Twems- nothing about the Taits in it. Associated families will be the next edition. Book comes with disc of gedcom files for all Twems and associated families though. Book still available.

Twems have
John Constable
Reg J Mitchell
Edward I / II and III
Edmnd Crouchback
and many more!!!!!!!

I really hope you haven't got an Auntie Helen from Sutton Coldfield anywhere in your familly history - this could be a real disaster, cousin!

Originally, I was relieved in checking that Annan was a long way from Leitholm and though I might have Scots ancestry (1/8 I think) there is little risk of sharing Geoff's blood line (albeit Grandad's Newcastle roots); but now I am fearful that, as a Lichfield boy, with these references to Sutton and Drayton things might be much, much worse.

Life in a monastery for me I think! :smt101

Cough cough!!!! ;-)

Well it certainly isn't from Rambo.

Having said that my side of the family have taller genes, not the "inbred" short fat and hairy ones that predominate north of the border.

Geoff- have checked my lot and they were originally masons in Stow, Midlothian, some of these then moved down to Langholme in Dumfrieshire and from there some to Liverpool where my connection through my great great grandmother Jeannie Tait commenced. Seems like Stow not too far from your lot so might be worth a look at a gedcom file if you have one.

I meant YOU Dave not me - I'm the short, fat hairy one

Interestingly though, Stow is about 12 miles from me and Langholm about 35 so perhaps me, you and Geoff ARE related. Geoff also used to have wacky hair before he lost the plot and shaved it off
