so my venture into the lotus elan ownership started last week after a viewing and test drive, there was just something about this '91 se model grasping my desire and interest. Its t & t'd ,and im not in any rush to do the what appears to be usual wear and tear issues, so that'll be not taking it out in heavy rain I guess its read, read, read and research for a while now.

Welcome ragtime, it sounds like I am in a similar position to you in terms of ownership, I have owned mine for just over a month now and already have had some of it to bits, fixed a few bits and am working on some more,

There is a lot of information on here, the wiki is excellent and if you look hard enough you will find all of the manuals you could shake a stick at, so there is rarely a need to resort to guesswork. I have found the natives here to be very accommodating and am thoroughly enjoying the fettling phase with my Elan.

I still can't get over the fact I bought my car without appreciating that the model is 25 years old and the LOTRDC guys have made space for us at Brands Hatch tomorrow to celebrate. So not only have we bought a very capable little car, but the community around ownership of it is great too.
