Hi all,

I purchased my 1992 Elan SE (British Racing Green) around 2 months ago and have so far found this forum to be a great source of information to assist with the (seemingly endless) list of jobs that have since presented themselves. The car has clearly been somewhat neglected over the last few years of its life so despite being a late Series 1 with relatively low mileage that came to me with a recent MOT, it has already consumed a fair bit of time and money, not least for a cylinder head gasket replacement! Thankfully it is now running OK and is usable whilst I continue with the less serious and more cosmetic aspects of my rolling restoration project. :D I'd very much like to hear from any forum members who live anywhere nearby (Rossendale, Lancs). I'd really appreciate someone with a bit more Elan ownership experience than myself having a look over my car and giving me the benefit of their wisdom. Looking forward to an active participation in the forum, and hope to see some other members out and about at classic car shows or local meets arranged through the forum.

Best regards,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathon,

I'm nowhere near by, but there are quite a few guys up in the Greater Manchester/Yorkshire area - my geography isn't brilliant, but I reckon your somehwere between Rob.P, Mikeydude, and Nicowalker :D (Plus Dico who never uses his, and Monty who is now living in Leeds).

Have you seen thisthread?

There will be a few people meeting for lunch at Marsden on 7th September (including me, as long as the landlady at my proposed B&B doesn't go into labour that weekend  )
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

Hi and welcome to LEC.
There are a few other M100 in the area that for some unknown reason are not on LEC. So also look at Club Lotus NW. They are quite active with regular monthly meets and some very nice annual get togethers too.

I've just done a coast to coast with them: very enjoyable days drive from Morecombe to Scarborough. See here

Hi Dave,

Yes I did see the thread re: the meet up at Marsden but hadn't put my name down as it clashes with a car show at Houghton Tower near Preston that I was planning to attend. However, I think now I'd get more value from the meet up, and in any case would like to get to know some fellow forum members so I think I'll put my name down for Marsden after all. Hope to see you there! :D

FredJohn - thanks for the welcome and the heads up on Club Lotus NW, I'll certainly check that out too. Cheers

John,

How very dare you!

(I'm sure Nicowalker will have something to say on the aspersions you're casting about his good lady wife!)
