The reason we do not list tyres for your vehicle on our website is that we list the Elan as being fitted with 205/50 R15 and unfortunately, we do not produce a tyre in that size.
In the 16", however, we produce the 205/45 ZR16 87W EXTRA LOAD TL PILOT SPORT 3 GRNX which would be a suitable fitment for your vehicle.

I guess it all depends on what the original question was.
If it was for tyres for standard SE wheels then the response truly is garbage.
If however it was for tyres for S2 wheels then the option they recommended may have been entirely reasonable.

I still don't have an answer to "Anyone fitted these to their car and driven it like it should be driven?" though!

Reading their response to your question they say they do not have a 15" tyre, leading one to believe you asked for a 15" tyre, therefore you have 15" wheels.

They then went on to say a 16" tyre "would fit your car". We all very much doubt a 16" tyre will fit a 15" wheel.

The above comments are (or appear to be) from people who are trying to poke fun (in the usual LEC "banter" style) at you first post, and do not address the question posed.

In the humble opinion of this poster (me), they can be ignored a bit....

...The tyre sizes quoted are correct for the 2 wheel sizes fitted to the Elan (15" & 16"), but obviously, the 16" tyre that Michelin can supply will not fit the 15" Oz Racing wheel.

(basically, I don't know of anyone who uses this particular tyre from Michelin, but I would expect them to be good as all their products seem to be - whether they suit you and your driving is a subjective manner that only you can answer if you get them!)

My other car has 18" wheels on the front and 19" on the back - will the 15" and 16" tyres make my Elan also go down hill all the time if I mix and match SE and S2 wheels and tyres in a similar manner?


Or shall I just shut the front door and do one son?

The email from Michelin does not in any way imply a 15" tyre fitted to a 16" wheel so what the f**k you lot are on I have no idea but I suspect its not legal.

I obviously made a mistake posting this on LEC.

No; they only list 15" wheels for the SE and I have 16 inch wheels on one of my SE's and on my S2.
You don't fit tyres to a car you fit them to a wheel.

I did. I wrote "I still don't have an answer to "Anyone fitted these to their car and driven it like it should be driven?" though! " - in other words "yes, I have no experience"! It may have been a negative answer, but it was at least a "no I haven't" too, so the ball was already rolling (but nobody noticed)!

The bit I put before that was supposed to be sensible too.
However I can't fault anyone for poking fun at the French, I mean when you're a Brit it's obligatory isn't it?!?

Dear Sir,
While I would like to engage in meaningless banter, I can't as my Sunday brunch awaits...
I have the Pilot Sport 2 in the above size on the S2 -- think this is the predecessor of the PS3 and the tyre/tread pattern looks identical.
The PS2s are brilliant, particularly in the wet and I'll put the above PS3s on both cars when due for replacement. The SE has Conti Sport Contact 2 which are good but not as good as the Michelins.
This is driven briskly on public roads in all weathers. Haven't tracked the S2 so can't comment on that sort of thing.
