Pistachio Green Elan SE £1500 SOLD

Postby chairleg » Thu 18.09.2014, 14:20

NOW SOLD

Hi All,

Time to sell my Lotus as I haven't used it for over 6 months. Currently it has no MOT or TAX. £1500 (or very near offer if you bring cash when viewing)

The car is located in West London (northolt), milage is 114k,

I've owned this car for a few years (I think 4), the last 4 registered owners were me (the car was lent to two friends as emergency transport for a few weeks at a time and needed to be done for the insurance)

The good,

The car is in pretty decent shape, the interior is nice, in October last year a new radiator was fitted, also during my ownership a standard stainless steel exhaust was fitted (large bore version is included in the sale).

Starts, stops, changes gear, central locking works

The mediocre,

The roof is in pretty good shape (designed to keep your knee wet in a downpour), some of the elastic ribbon needs replacing to help automate the roof being closed.
Paintwork is definitely a marmite colour (I love it), the paint job okay, some crazing on the front bumper, could do with a rub down and a quick overspray, I have photo's highlighting the worst, it has bleached in the sun and some panels buff up better than others.

Just trying to find some of the passenger door interior trim (taken off to replace the window mechanism), the window still needs a hand every once in a while to bring it up (drivers side is fine)

Front tyres currently have mud and snow tyres fitted (two summertime spares are included) nb, the winter tyres are pretty poor in the wet and lockup a lot earlier than the summer tyres.

MOT failed on hand brake and front light bulb, the hand brake was much better after removing the layer of rust that had accumulated (I expect it would pass if cleaned up again).

Front wheel bearings were replaced during my ownership

The alarm system draws quite a bit of power, if I'm not using the car for a couple of weeks I'll disconnect the battery to save it going flat.

The bad / the risk you take in buying this car.

Only one set of keys, can only unlock using the fob.

I'll mention it for completeness, the radiator was replaced, there is a slight weep either from the cyclinder head or water pump, it hasn't caused me any problems so have left it as is. I've clocked up over 5k miles with it like this.

Headlight motors are ineffective, presume they need rebuilding.
Driving beam headlights have rusted up, this hasn't been an issue in the past for MOT's

The rear spoiler has a 1" chunk taken out of it (photo available)

If I think of anything else I'll add it to the above.

Regards
Ray

I agree if I had the space, I'd have this.
