Hi guys, just a quick intro. Today I take delivery of my M100, well it's the wives actually but cant blame her for that as I bought it. I am not a Lotus virgin as I have owned about 10 of them over the last 7 years and presently use an S4 as my runabout. I thought like any other Lotus car I should jump on here and let you know that another one has made it's way to the North East of Scotland and is going to be in regular use so my first question has to be, how do these little pocket rockets handle in the wet and snow as for sure we are bound to have some soon.Presently she is fitted with 17" wheels which I plan to take back to standard if I can find some and she has Yokohama tyres which are all like new. Any advice would be greatfull. She is due for arrival later today so will post some pics once unloaded.

Handling in the wet is good imho with the correct tyres.
In the snow..... Dunno!

In the wet, no problem with, as HJ points out, the correct tyres and appropriate caution.

I never take mine out in the snow as it is so low slung and light I'd expect to lose traction by floating on the snow.

She's so low, that if there is any depth of snow on the road, she acts as a snow plough!!!!

Enjoy your wife's M100, as much as I enjoy my wife's one... actually, we have only a few kilometers on it, most of the time is spent restoring it as the previous owners had let it deteriorate quite a bit

Already done new timing belts, water pump, changed all engine fluids, replaced the gear change unit with a short-shift kit and cables from BCN (and what a welcome difference that made), fitted slotted hubs and ECB brake pads on the front, and at the moment am working on a new wireless harness in order to enable me to add remote control (boot and doors), and permanent and ignition switched power to the head unit (I didn't want to use the existing wiring harness because a) it has an immobilizer on it which shuts the battery off after a few hours when there is a drain on it and b) if I ever want to restore the electrics to the original, all I have to do is remove the additional harness and plug the radio back to the factory supplied power cables (both permanent for some reason)

Oh yes, also had it resprayed as nearly every panel was a different shade of calypso red, and am also busy replacing all the rooftop seals.... Have the doors stripped open at the moment, as I have to repair the window lifting mechanisms (slider and butterfly were broken ... IMHO by the resprayer, but one cant blame him these parts are 23 years old.

Am about to go on golfing now, but when I come back I will be fitting a new mechless head unit (Blaupunkt Brisbane 230) and infinity speakers .... and maybe a active subwoofer if it needs it

Lots of fun working on my wifes Lotus Elan M100, when I could be driving my Chrysler 300M in comfort

I have used mine in all weathers, and on one particular uphill gradient in fresh snow was capable of getting up the hill when many 'standard' cars were unable to get traction. The combination of low weight and FWD helps (but as others have said, I wouldn't want to try in in any great depth of white stuff).
