Alternator and PAS Belts

Dear All:

New belt technology from Dayco:

PAS/AC belt-Dayco p/n 5060410 6PK1040

Alternator belt-Dayco p/n 5040275 4PK0700

$30USD for the pair.

These belts are the "new" Poly Cog technology. Allegedly longer life under adverse conditions and minimum chance of breaking. I'm willing to try anything that helps me avoid having to change belts on an M100.

Thanks, Algirdas! I'm approaching extreme paranoia about driving Smaug at the moment. Houdini could not confirm the timing belt had ever been changed. 17 years and 47K miles has me very nervous. I'll do these at the same time.

Jusr put the Gates parts on, perfect fit. Don't forget to clean all the little stones out of the pulleys!

I got mine from Advance Auto parts. $30 or $33 with tax for both. Had them in stock, no waiting. They have cheaper ones as well, but I opted for the more expensive ones.

A piece of information; the 4PK685 belt is also used on the Daihatsu Copen!

If you don't already have one, it is well worth investing in a 12mm ratchet ring spanner, it makes the job a little easier.

I have this set, while not a fan of Halfrauds it has proved itself many times.

I already have the set, i have one of there socket/spanner sets to and I'm very happy with both. Quality tools, but plenty of tools working there.

Cheers for the info Cliff! Belts are on their way to me from the other side of the pond.

I have to say I'm not looking forward to the change, does not look like the roomiest of jobs. Think I will need to find a guide!
