Hi all . My first post was help with brakes on my newly aquirred elan, Looks like thats fixed ! To reiterate a little with the history. I live in Spain, in Catalunya,50km from France. My carmad son lives in Carlisle . I found the car on ebay, it had been in store for 5 years, sharing a garage with an early E type and some other car. The cars milage is 60K miles BUT IT HAD A new ENGINE back in 2000 bill for nearly 6000 pounds! It had a new MOT every year even though it was not used so from 2000 to 2008 only did 200 miles. my son bid on it for me , he does this a lot, i said he is car mad and we won the auction for a very good price. The idea now was, before I can bring it down to Spain for Simon to get it fully sorted out. It was running very well but the brakes were siezing after a little use, previous posts relate . We had the engine fully seviced, new cambelt pump etc, new alternator, new tyres, the whole car fully detailed and polished, this was because its red I was thinking it may need an expensive respray, but after checking the paint thickness the shop polished it, Fantastic, thr paint came up like new| And its all original- My son says it goes like stink and handles perfectly, He runs a Ford RS Focus over 200bhp and a Ford Racing Puma and a WIlliams Clio so he should know! All to do now is to fit the new Michelins and finish the brakes. The garage said the servo was faulty but after a lot of advice from you great guys we decided to strip the calipers ,polish pistons one side is done and is working, just the other side no and we are done.
Now have time to sort out other things, one being the seats hence this new post. The car is calipso red with red leather seats and carpets all perfect . Would the red seats be correct'? Soon will wait for some nice weather in France then drive it home! YIPPEE!!
