I was going to say that, in the time it took you to fit the indicator lenses, a tree has grown out of the neighbour's dustbin.

Nice job, though. It is things like this that take years off the appearance of our cars, I think, which is a huge credit to the timelessness of the design of the car.

As the silver coating inside my light units was a little past it's best, I have replaced the indicator bulbs with amber LED strips, and the sidelights with bright white LED panels - I can't give any pictures at the moment as they aren't fitted, but from a test in the garage, they're a lot brighter than the old units!

I now I may be in the minority here but I think these types of mods have the opposite effect- our elans are very much of its time and look best that way - Nothing dates our cars more than the pop up headlights but they are also probably the styling feature that gives the car the most charm.

Lotus Elans like women in my view should be allowed to grow old gracefully so clear indicator lenses and white faced dials like bot-ox and boob jobs just don't float my boat.

It goes without saying that it's a free country (still I think!) and you can do what you want to you car but I sort of agree with Nick.
It depends a lot on body colour and Collapso red with amber lens is not so much of a clash as perhaps blue or purple.
I know I definately dislike the clear light clusters you see on the rear of some Mazda's & Toyota's.
The Elan is now 25 years old now and I think it is becoming more appreciated for its design as time is passing

I was looking everywhere for a dustbin, it's a fence and lamppost!

It's surprising how much the car is transformed by such a simple modification. Personally I prefer the clear indicators, but I won't be going for white dials, there nothing wrong with the red dash (it's red not orange!), I think it looks sporty!

Johan, I bought the lens from SJs, but only because I was ordering something else from them.

I like the clear lenses, modernizes the car.

I also like the red/orange dials, the white faces kinda look cheap to me. I could do with a new face for my boost gauge though!

Actually I've got some blue hoses bought by the previous owner but never fitted (fortunately). I've been meaning to advertise them for sale, but It looks like no-one will want them!

the clear modernises it and its not a modern car so I never did it to mine. As an aside I'm wondering where Rambo with the Collapso Pink is, he usually has a comment to make about fellatio purple cars.
