Step Sisters

Postby DashEight » Sun 21.12.2014, 20:11

I took delivery yesterday of this 1970 Elan Plus 2. It joins it's two sisters in the garage, my Elan M100 and my 1970 Europa S2. A little minor tinkering and this one should be back in top shape. I'm looking forward to the next summers's club drives.

Had a chance to pull my cars out and clean up the shop this last weekend without it raining. This is the first time I've had them all together so I took a picture. I drove the M100 around to keep the battery charged up. I can't wait for spring to come around. Trying to stay busy till then.

The DMC12 is based on an Esprit-derived chassis too....but I guess you already knew that. :bananasex:

Definitely a de Lorean: there are quite a few in the USA. Mike Brewer and his mechanic "restored" one on Wheeler Dealers recently (or at least recently on Quest anyway!). He went to States to buy a load of spares for the restoration.
Can't say about the other silver one, but these pics may prompt me to post my "step sisters" once the weather improves. One of them below in my signature as a taster :D

You are correct that the center car in the rear is a 1981 DeLorean DMC-12, We have over 120 here in the Washington State area.

The other silver car is a 1985 Toyota Corolla GT-S also known as the AE86 (chassis code) or the “Hachi Roku” in Japanese. They are well known in the Japanese car scene due to an entire generation of kids watching a Cartoon called “Initial D.” They are a fantastic car to drive. Front engine Rear wheel drive LSD with the 1.6 twin cam 4AGE motor. This is my 3rd one. It is rare in that it is completely stock. Most have been modified. Years ago I modified my other cars with a bunch of tuner parts and ruined the feel of the cars. I sold them and pledged as soon as another one came up for sale I’d buy it and leave it alone. I actually chased down a little old lady one day and gave her my phone number and told her to call when she wanted to sell, she called me 2.5 years later.

She'd be embarrassed to know I've shown in her naked state but you can see her there in the back with a blanket over her. The chassis and the body are being restored separately. I'm a one man operation so it's slow going sometimes. She’s getting a 1.6ltr Toyota 4AGE installed (same motor that’s in my Corolla GT-S) in place of the French motor.
