Does anyone know which make/model of car Lotus pinched the power steering tank from.

Well the Elan pre-dates the MINI and the MINI was initially developed under the Rover umbrella so it's unlikely to be a BMW part. Best bet is Rover/Land Rover (like side lights and wiper shaft covers). The two LEC spares (thanks Spud!) that I have in the loft have no markings other than ZF on the lid...... a bit like
this one off a Disco.
I also recently discovered that one of the other Elan owners at work has a son who works for Forge Motorsport.

Geoff, if you have an OE one (or 2!) spare, is it an option to send it up to Steve at Coolexperts to see if he can make up something suitable????

Just wondering if they are the same? just put ZF mini pas tank into google and the tank look the same as the Land Rover link on ebay
There is cheaper ones then Forge out there as well
http://www.gtt.uk.com/Enginebay.asp they do look well made with the tops formed not just welded flat.....
