Picked her up yesterday after four days at Platinum Alloys.

Sorry no before pics, couldn't get them small enough! Just imagine one wheel with kerbing all round! Plus two wheels were buckled. Really pleased with the results! I'm going to get some bolt caps and new logos to finish them off.

No pics to post, just wanted to share that she passed her MOT! My first with her and I was pretty worried about it. One advisory, same as last year, rear nearside wheel bearing has slight play. (Which I thought Cos at Sportomotive fixed last year, well he'll have to fix it again!)

Some MOT places often say rear wheel bearings need attention as when cold they can have a little play as i understand it.

It is always a relief (to me anyway) when the car gets through its MOT. Happy days

I take mine to Sportomotive for serviceing etc. Cos ran an M100 as his daily for 5years I belive and only stopped as he needed something less thirsty so he would know considerable more than the average MOT tester

My friendly MOT tester often comments on this - I always set them up per the manual and there is always a little play..

Looking back at old MOTs it is a recurring theme, along with headlight aim and brake judder. There is a bit of a squeak at the back, it started about two weeks ago!

I am happy taking my car there. Her service is due in a about a month. Cos's signature is by the service stamp back in 1997 when it was a Lotus dealership and he said he'd seen the car since. Apparently they work with The Performance Car Company, who sold my car a few years ago.

I know MOT testers can vary in their opinions. When I last had my Ibiza MOTed and serviced I took it to a local chap who had just set up on his own, VOSA qualified himself he said it would fail, but the garage he took it to for the MOT passed it with an advisory.

Today was my first Elanniversary! I've had her one year today!

Went for a nice drive this afternoon, somewhat marred by the fact it could have been my last drive in my Elan, when a small red Daewoo Matiz/Kia Picanto type car - I was not paying much attention to it is as it waited to pull out, until it came out in front of me! No time to brake I had to swerve and thank God there was nothing coming the other way. At this point I expected it to stop, but no, it carried on and I thought it was going to sideswipe me! The Mini behind me must have had to brake like hell to avoid it too. Definitely one of the scariest near misses I've had!

It is a bonnie colour on the Elan, especially nice with the cream leather as well. Marmite on the other hand makes me retch .

I'm not a fan of cream seats because they don't look so good once the leather starts to crease & the creases go black.
I like Palacio though. I wonder what it would look like with purple seats?

I have seen a Palacio S2 with black leather and Ribena piping. That looked good and wasn't too overstated

PS I quite like the purple and cream leather combination but agree with the Ripster, it can look very tatty once creased and dirty so keep cleaning and adding a good quality leather polish
