Renovating plastic trim

Just been reading up..

has any body tied C4 on the exterior plastic trim of the Elan ?

( wiper blade spoiler, rear light covers, door mirror plastic, lock bezels, et cetera )

Looks expensive, but comments on the www are generally positive

I used it on my rear number plate surround and was quite impressed as it was completely grey beforehand but once treated the plastic looked black again.

Unfortunately I didnt take before and after pictures as I didnt think it would be as big an improvement as it turned out to be.

I've been using a homemade mixture of mineral spirits and boiled linseed oil. 50% of each. If the plastic is badly faded it takes several coats with drying time in between.

I repainted mine with Upol black aerosol paint.
I reckon it still looks new (after 6 months), but obviously, because i did the job myself my opinion is probably biased.

From my experience you can stay away from pounshop "black pack" or "black back" whatever is the name. It looks amazing when you put on but wears off in about 1-2 weeks.
