Calypso Red SE Turbo (cheap cheap) :-) SOLD

Postby Gee21 » Sun 21.06.2015, 13:21

Hi All,

Thought I'd post this just now but the car wont be available for a few weeks but if any of the scottish lads want a look before it officially goes on sale let me know?

The car is a 1991 H reg SE Turbo finished in Calypso Red. The car was subject to an insurance claim in 2007 and is on the V car register. The damage sustained was the rear bumper, light panel and both rear wings. The reason for the v car register is that it would cost more to repair than the car was worth back then. Probably due to Lotus not making the panels any longer.

As you can see from the pictures its a really nice wee car. 104,000 miles with six previous owners. The car comes with three folders full of history. 15 service stamps in the history. 5 from Murrays Lotus main dealer in Edinburgh and 10 stamps from Morland Jones independant Lotus specialist. There are also various other receipts for work and servicing over the years. The cambelt has just been changed 6 months ago, receipts available. The interior's quite good with only the drivers seat needing a wee bit of work. Brand new red carpet. Top of the range Alpine head unit with upgraded front and rear speakers.

Also has Mk1 Elise rear light conversion. (im not sure i like this but some people may like it) Custom made stailess steel exhaust which sounds just as nice as the Cybox but without the motorway drone. Previous owner told me the turbo had been refurbed.

Starts, stops and drives very well. A bit tappety on start up but quietens down after a min. MOT till December.

Please note the S2 wheels are not part of the sale and will be sold with good condition standard SE wheels with road legal tyres.

First £2800 secures the car. S2 wheels may be available by negotiation. :-D

The rear panel is very interesting, I've not seen one before that didn't have the 'indentation' for the number plate, I rather like it but wonder if it is legal not having the plate vertical

the car looks cracking, inside and out, and it's near impossible to find an Elan on the road for under £3k these days.

It's a shame i already have an Elan or i'd be very tempted.

The indentation on mine takes the plate further from vertical & this has not been commented on any MOTs.
The later Esprits with round rear lights had similar panels with the plate angled in the same way.

I've drove a Mk2 before buying Black Beastie, it was indeed a boring piece of shite, felt like a Ford Fiasco with the roof removed. Dreadful car.
