Finally decided to buy into Lotus ownership after selling my Elan S3 40 years ago. I always liked the look of the M100 and I plan to use this as daily transport along with my Triumph motorbike. These cars have to be a good investment if well looked after.
So far the performance is exciting and for a 25 year old car I am amazed at how it performs. AP Racing brakes and a Peco exhaust with recent cam belt replacement makes me think it should be fine. The car is British racing green and when I find a good touch up paint for the chips it should look almost new.
I bought a cab cover on eBay that I will use when I have to leave it out and there is a chance of rain.
The alarm system is a Gemini 1160 and it seems to be well wired in but I need to find a remote to operate it.
Look forward to meeting up with others soon - shame I couldn't get to Brands Hatch this weekend.

Hi & welcome.

The Ace cafe in Stonebridge Park on the North Circular hold a British sports car evening on the 3rd Wednesday of each month...that's this week :D
That's not too far away from you. People start arriving 7.30-ish.
I'll be going this month, Surfboardfiller sometimes goes & on the (very) odd occasion, 1 or 2 other members also go too.

I think Dave is in his own world today. Maybe he wants a quiet night there on his own tomorrow?

Welcome. AP's and a Peco are both very good upgrades - sounds like the previous owner knew what he was doing, so if the performance is that impressive (i.e. boosting to near vertical on the "fun-o-meter"), maybe it's been treated to an Everest too. Something to keep an eye out for.

Shame you couldn't make it.
Surfboardfiller, Dave Eds, Rice crispy, mini me & I were all looking out for another Elan.
The turnout in general was quite poor for August. :(

I did make it and was talking to a couple of guys until the rain got worse. My daughter came along and was planning to drive it home. However the engine decided to misfire? We made it home, but need to start looking for the reason why. I had fitted new plugs with 1.1 gap, so may try to reduce the gap a bit. Also looking at damp as a reason? The joys of Lotus ownership.

If the plug type ends in '11' it's 1.1mm, otherwise it's 0.8mm. What plugs did you fit?

Phil thought he saw another Elan but none of us believed him!
Mine was the blue one which it looks like is right on the edge of your photo. Rice crispy got there a little later.
There will always be a next time. It will probably be raining then too!
I hope you get your misfire sorted.

Yes we saw the blue Elan with the unusual rear light cluster. And a green one similar to mine to the left.
When we left the car sounded decidedly unwell. I thought it might be down to the wet, but after limping home found that plugs 2 and 4 were very sooty and the other clean.
I suspect the coilpack, so have tried to get one for tomorrow and will see if that fixes the problem.
See you at the next meeting hopefully

Coil packs are paired cylinders 1 & 4, 2 & 3
Injectors are paired 1 & 3, 2 & 4

Your fault therefore sounds related to injectors rather than coil packs.
