A few years back I obtained a 'pre loved' (don't you just love that expression?) SS Exhaust from a member of the forum (Turners), if I recall in our correspondence he advised me that it was a PNM exhaust, I can no longer find the pm's in my inbox, or replies I made in my out box, and nothing in my Archive!

Two queries:

1. Is there anything I can do to retrieve 'lost' correspondence from my 'message' folder? And
2. Is there any way of identifying the manufacturer of an exhaust, merely by looking at it?

The reason for trying to Identify the manufacturer is that the Cypriots seem a bit twitchy about the noise (albeit that it is ok in the UK) and PNM are producing a secondary silencer that is a 'bolt on' addition to their exhaust which might help allay the local concerns!

If it came from PNM it's most likely to be a Cybox exhaust. Depending on how old it is it might be branded a Peco but Peco and Cybox are one and the same.
I fitted the secondary silencer to my car last year, as did many others, the stock system is a bit boomy. There are a few pictures I posted on this thread that might help you confirm the identity of your system.

The Cybox/Peco systems have an oval tailpipe surround which might offer a clue.
The secondary silence is well worth fitting.

Thanks for that, that seems to provide the solution I need. Just been on to PNM in regards to acquiring their rear brakes so I'll go back and see if they can provide a secondary silencer as well.

Incidentally, is there anyway that inclusion of this impacts on Emissions? I can't think why it might but, ever grasping at straws!

No, the additional silencer won't have a measurable effect on emissions! If there is increased back-pressure, it might change the flow a tiny bit, but it would be extremely small.

The BCBs are in my paws in Bristol. Let me know if you want one. If I were you though, I think I would give your car a little 'tune up' and you should be able to get it through the emissions limits you quoted without going closed loop.

Pete, I have a Peco exhaust system fitted which I believe came from Cybox and whilst it is loud I have never had any issues with emissions, the car has passed the MOT for the last two years without any problem in that area.

I recently replaced the front pipe and had them make me a new down pipe from the Turbo (None Standard Turbo on my car) and they were pretty good to deal with. Link below shows the standard unit they supply for the M100

I've never had problems with emissions either and I have one of the very original development Peco's as well as a Cybox. They are noisy but that is deliberate I believe to make the M100 sound like a proper sports car. I love the sound it makes and can still hear after driving 350/400 miles which I do on a regular basis

And you may or may not have an inner circular s/s pipe (uncircumcised) or not (circumcised)

If the back box has a big round tailpipe it is likely to be a Paul Matty exhaust. This sounds just as good as the Peco/Cybox, if not even better. Think TVR rumble
