Boost gauge goes straight to max when ignition is turned on

Any ideas what I need to check and in what order please chaps?

Check the boost transducer/boost sender unit earth.

The unit is situated on the left hand side of the engine bay (as you look at the engine from the front with the bonnet up) on the front of the left hand suspension turret. One wire will attach to the unit and the other to a spade terminal that is under one of the mounting screws.

I had the exact same problem, turned out the earthing lead and screw were loose, I cleaned the spade terminal and its mating face on the bracket with a bit of wet and dry abrasive paper and tightened it all up - problem solved.

I hope you have the same problem and that this answer will help/fix.

Hmm, of course not as straightforward a fix as I had hoped! The previous owner had helpfully disconnected both wires from the boost sensor and also the boost sensor from the bulkhead. Please could you confirm which terminal on the boost sensor I should attach the smaller connector to and confirm that the black wire is the earth?

The black wire is the earth and should be mounted under one of the screws that attaches the transducer mounting bracket to the body work. The other wire (which is green on my car) should attach to the transducer itself at the opposite end to the rubber hose that goes off to the plenum chamber ( the bit with "DOHC" on it).

If you have a look at Lotusflasherman's post there is a picture of the transducer and hopefully it will make sense.

Thanks guys - I got it working at the weekend, so now I have a moving gauge to see how heavy footed I am being!
