Hi Tom,

I bought one of your excellent exhaust systems in the original run 5 years ago.

Still very pleased with it. The only thing wrong is the rubber hangers have all perished - How much for a new set?

we would work out shipping cost individually, according to the order. We ship with DHL and would typically expect an exhaust to be between £100-£150 GBP.

Remember, The UK cars didn't get a CAT until the S2 version in 1995, so most posts discussing exhausts are about UK or European SE models.

The FED car has the Pre-Cat and well as the in-line CAT so that acts as an additional muffler as well as a restrictor of the exhaust stream.

I don't think an extra in-line muffler will help you.

The guts have been stripped out of my pre-cat and it doesn't have another now. Plus it has a quite large exhaust, not very well done. Sounds nice, but sort of loud for longer drives (at least with the top up).

Not sure what I'll do- I'm sure the Piper system is very nice, but by the time it gets here a lot of money also.
I need to figure what I can spend right now for exhaust (with all my other expensive hobbies).

Thanks for the info, I had not really looked I to what it had stock, except I knew about the pre-cat.

Interesting.

Most States require at least the in-line CAT still be present (they don't have a way to check to see if it has any guts) and a lot of owners have gutted their Pre-CATs. There aren't many states that don't test the exhaust, so gutting the CAT might sneak by, but it probably won't pass the CO/HC tests. Maybe that is another good reason to relocate to Washington State - or South Carolina who don't even have inspections.

Yes, not tesing where I live. But if I redo it, I'd like to have it good enough to sell someplace else.
Although the Guy I bought it from sure didn't mention the lack of a cat...

First day with the new Piper yesterday and so far I would say it has been a god choice.
Definitely a big improvement on the S2.
It feels as if the power is coming in quicker and the turbo turns more freely, as it rises through the revs.
The car is most definitely more rapid.
Around town and under 2500 revs you can't really notice much difference noise wise. It is not until you get to around 70mph that it begins to become a bit drony but even then it's not to bad. After that road and wind noise become just as equal.
Gerald was also impressed with the quality and fit and it doesn't snag the underside anywhere.
The little Elan now goes and sounds as it should do without the cat restricting it.

Hi Chipp. Was there a reason you went down the Piper route, rather than Peco/Cybox ?

I have one of each and am impressed with both. Both well made, fit well and sound even better

I done a bit of research on several aftermarket options and the Piper seemed to offer the best of all the aspects that I was looking for.
Everyone will have a different criteria for their choice and the Piper has so far lived up to all of mine.
One of the main ones for me was trying to eliminate the possibility of making further modifications due to the dreaded boost creep. This so far seems to have paid off.
