Exhaust opinion (simple question)

I've read through all of the other posts on the different exhaust options.

There appears to be three options available.

>cybox (peco)
>Piper
>custom i.e. powerflow

My main question is........ is the piper really worth the extra money? It appears to be over double the price of the cybox. Surely they are pretty similar.

I don't know how much powerflow will charge, i might look into it

I have a 2¼" Piper with the extra silencer & have compared comments with other owners of Pipers & Peco (Cybox).
The below is what I have read on here & from comparisons with others who have Pipers & Pecos.

My extra silencer does very little. Compared to dapinky's standard one at idle, it was hard to tell the 2 apart.
The Peco seems to be a little less restrictive than the Piper 2¼". This allows boost to creep more quickly but also allows overboost to occur slightly more easily.
Peco & Piper both give a nice rumble without sounding too chavvy when you open them up in a tunnel. The Peco has a slightly boomy sound which can be a little tiring on the motorway. They can supply an extra silencer but this does not change matters very much. The Piper is not boomy at all.

The 2½" Piper is useful if you plan to tune the engine above 220bhp (bigger turbo, injectors etc). Below that, it offers no significant advantage.
Piper used to offer both sizes with or without a silencer or sportcat. Their website infers that this has changed, but I am sure if you call them, they can offer alternatives.

If you compare like for like then this means the 2¼" without the 2nd silencer so this makes the comparison £400 for the Piper instead of £300 for the Peco which is far from double the cost.

Is the lack of 'boom' on a long journey worth an extra £100 to you?

granted I was looking at the cost of the 2.5" piper when i said it was double.

but still the piper is £519, and the cybox is £275 from PNM. so it is not far off double.

I would go for single silencer as the noise doesn't bother me at all you should hear my mini :p

If you look at the Piper site it is £401.88 for the 2.25" without the second silencer.

Try calling them. I am sure they will be able to sort out one with a single silencer, or with a sportcat if necessary.

I can't justify to myself getting the piper I will be buying the Cybox one. (spending £10k on my wedding this year lol)

Now, if you were to spend out on this, then a hundred bags of fish and chips @ about £7 each, a suit from George at Asda can be had for £40, a barrel of beer and a couple of bottles of wine (or even fizzy stuff) for the ladies, use a room above a pub so you don't get stung for more booze, a playlist on your iPhone wired into the amp in the pub, job done! - plenty left for an exhaust

What a great idea. It's so different, much cheaper and I'm sure everyone would have just as good a time. The bride and her Mother might take a bit of convincing though !

Maybe you should market that idea and set up business as the LEC wedding planner. Wasn't Spanish Geoffos' daughter getting hitched this year ?

Best and most memorable wedding ever (apart from my own...wife looking over shoulder as I type) was in the students union at Bristol Uni. Everyone brought a dish of food and/or drink; the room was free, everyone mingled because there was no formal seating plan and everyone had the opportunity to make a speech if they wanted. Great atmosphere, fantastic food, hilarious speeches and costs minuscule. I've been to countless formal suited and booted, seating plan reception "oh no not chicken again" weddings that have all merged into one memory.
Go with Dave's option...bit expensive in my opinion but the wifes worth it.
Exhaust AND an interior retrim.

It's more expensive than that: there's a £7 delivery charge from China.

One bottle or so of fizz less then......... or re-use the nuts and bolts from the old exhaust!

Unfortunately all is booked now.

But its funny you should mention fish and chips...... Because that is exactly what our wedding breakfast is!!!!!

Followed by an old school ice cream bike.

Evening food is an old Italian stonebake pizza van!

Venue is sopley mill though in the new Forrest, that cost £2500.

The dress, suits, paperwork, honeymoon...... It all adds up pretty quickly

....whilst a wedding may be expensive, you need to keep 'em happy, because a divorce costs a hell of a lot more!

Whilst we're , some of the best weddings I've been to have been a variation to the traditional - a few on here went to Dico's do a couple of years ago - sitting in a cow barn, seats made from hay bails, eating hog roast, no seating plan - what a bloody good do that was! (okay, so it was actually extremely well-planned, but a great day (or 2) away.)

When we got married, having both done the big-church-traditional thing before, we just spent the money on a holiday and got married on the beach
