The alternator is indeed newish, steering rack has some play at TDC but always been that way and never gets worse. Usually commented on at MOT time but never marked down as an advisory.
Glad Jamie is helping

Those wheels really suit the car. Do you know anything about them?

My wife's just divorced me because I wouldn't open the car door for her!
To be fair I panicked and swam straight for the surface.

Andy - from memory of what Scott J told me when he owned the Black Beastie, they were manufactured by Compomotive. Not sure of size or offset but perhaps Scott or Par can elucidate on that ?

Game-on! Gone but not forgotten.
Where did you get that picture, Mark? All the old threads were toast many years ago.

It was one of the photos I took at Donington 2005 John. The smartest engine bay of the weekend but by far the tattiest interior. Do you remember all those beer cans and Marlboro fag packets rolling around the footwells

Wish I'd taken a photo of that as a reminder

Ah, yes. 2005. When we were young.
(Apologies for the thread hi-jack.

So it was. I'd forgotten that. He even had a different seat LHS
I think he eventually sold out to Delta from memory ?

They are indeed Compomotive and they are 16" but I would need to check the offset, Scott did me a deal on them after I bought the car. They dont look as good now and need a refurb - another item on the 'to do' list

I'm pretty sure the wheels are Speedline, not Compmotive. Paul Matty fitted them. Offset is wrong. The above pics were the Knockhill classic a few years back. Lots debuted the Jim Clark Elise so thats a clue.

Picture to put Jamies mind at ease, the CRX is still around. Keeping away from all the nasty stuff on the roads at this time of year like a proper garage queen!

Does anyone know what this part is called, it is the flexible foam ducting in the passenger side wheel arch?

This one was the texture of weetabix without the strength, I am sure there is thread suggesting alternative material to replace it with but I cant find it.

It is called FOAM CONNECTOR, WHEEL ARCH DUCT to HEATER part no. A100P0096F from SJ Sports Cars. Costs £5.63 plus delivery plus VAT.
See hereSome people (dapinky I thinky) used an old inner tube instead. Cost probably nothing. I need to replace mine too.

Thanks!
At that price makes sense to fit an original part, current one seems to have lasted for 25 years!
