i didn't know Sy as i am still a newbie here, but deepest sympathies to his family and friends, and as for his favourite saying...well............

i am going to pick my elan up tomorrow from m100hoods, but got a call yesterday telling me the plastic bleed valve behind the light pod had given up the ghost due to going brittle, and decided to deposit coolant everywhere. no problem i hear you say, just fit a new one.
HA! if only it were that easy. one of the previous owners must have had this problem, but instead of buying a replacement, they re-tapped the the thread hole and fitted a different type. mark at m100hoods is now trying to get a new one machined so i can drive my car back. why can't folks just fit the correct parts??

Been having my teeth straightened using Invisalign retainers.Change them fortnghtly. Yesterday was change day so I did. Supposed to take them out to eat. Was at the Big Man's wake so didn't. Enjoyed two plates of that excellent curry.

This morning my retainers are luminous green - Bollox!

I've just spent two days refurbishing my headlights,as the left one had started to go down with a bump and clatter. Stripped the pods, de rusted, re-painted, fitted Geoff's stainless screws and springs, stripped the motors and replaced some miss-shapen plastic rods.

I turned the headlight switch and the pods went down in unison with a pleasing action and no clatter. Then I turned the switch to bring them up again and they didn't move. Just sat there with lights on, illuminating the pod bays. They've never done that before. BOLLOX!

But then...
I remembered some advice given by Mr Vickers to another Elan owner at one Donington, and thumped the black box on the bulkhead. Success! Both lights raised, and they now work perfectly.

Last Sunday I did posibly my cleanest oil change ever.
Put all the tools away, went inside and washed my black hands, then decided to just turn the car around so I could dab up literally a couple of drops of oil...
...and promptly ran over the used oil container. :shock:

BOLLOX.

Exxon Valdez eat your heart out.
I'm still looking embarrassedly at my feet any time one of the neighbours pulls up on the shared driveway. :oops:

Woke up to lovely spring sunshine.

Another day consisting of pottering around down on the allotment and then tinkering with cars, before a late afternoon pint or two.

Life can be shite :-D

....it's on days like this that I would quite like an allotment to potter around. I'll have to make do with walking the dog along the beach, followed by a cider and fish 'n chips.

Couldn't agree more: lovely day, sun on Malvern Hills, and BOLLOX I'm tiling the kitchen........

Dave we have 1/4 of an acre of garden that needs some more TLC if you would like somewhere to potter around :!:
