The chassis leg where the engine mount bracket fits and the brackets had suffered some corrosion so they were rubbed back and treated with POR15.

Nice shiny new POR15 grey paint which is is actually quite a good match to the original colour:-

All bolted back in place, can you spot the deliberate mistake.......

Thats right I forgot to fit the rubber parts to the mount as I had put them somewhere safe while I was cleaning and painting the brackets & mount so need to go back over old ground which I am sure wont be the last time as I try to remember how all the pieces fit back together!

:!: Be careful:
The screw pointed in red is supposed to be an Allen head! This is important because I think it's absolutely inaccessible without a round Allen key when the clam shell is on the car!

(on the other hand if you let it like that no one will ever be able to steal your engine. That might be a nice feature after all :-D)

WillB currently has a type 72 Elise on his books. Though I do need to see Jamies soon.

Thanks Giniw - good to know that now before it is all hidden under the clamshell again, will try and pick up a high tensile socket head to replace with. Although I think perhaps a previous owner has changed the bolt on yours as my car seems to have a had a hex head fitted as standard at the factory, it still had the green paint (which I think would have been applied after being torqued up).

The rubber end pieces of the mount have now been refitted, not really sure what they do, but I guess they must be there for a reason! Chassis has been rubbed down and prepped for a coat of POR15 paint:-

Starting to assemble a few of the suspension parts in preparation for re-fitting to car which I hope isnt too far away.

New Protech dampers and springs with freshly powder coated yokes and re-used top hats:-

Spent a bit of time cleaning and polishing the raft to go with the powder coated mounting plates and painted strut. I know it is probably pointless as it wont be seen and will just get dirty again however I felt it should be done while I have the opportunity:-

I'm sure that you'll do it anyway (as I see they are already fitted!) - but remember to keep the raft/upper wishbone pivot bars in the raft before fitting the raft to the car.

Once the raft is fitted, you can't get the pivot bars in! (you can fit the wishbones easily enough with it in situ, but there isn't enough room to slide the pivot out of the raft).

Just to let you know. I'm doing the same job and managed to source the large M12 penny washers, lock nuts and half nuts in Stainless, on everyone's favorite buy it now' site ebay. They would look good with the cleaned up raft and IMHO are under little load so candidates for replacement.

I'd be interested to know who the eBay seller of the M12 penny washers is. Can you post a link. The ones I got were about half the thickness of the ones on the car so I had to reuse the old ones.

I am sure I have some of these in amongst the multitude of stainless fixings I have ordered, will need to compare the thickness before swapping them over.

Are you the same chrisP from the CRX forum who bought a set of alloys from me and then one ended up destroyed/melted when the car went on fire?

No problem Par, I think they are the same size as the ones on the rear top link, so if and when you get round to doing them (if you haven't already) you could use them there. What bushes are you using for the top front wishbones? I have just put the ones from SJ's in and they seem a 'funny' fit.

I have the Poly bushes from SJ's as well, I have not got around to fitting them yet as I need to paint the wishbone arms first. I will try a test fit this week and let you know how I get on.
