Does this fuel pump work for both the turbo and N/A Elans? My Elan has about 103,000 miles on it and I have the fuel tank out right now for mine and want to take the opportunity to replace a lot of these components just while I'm at it.

The Turbo model needs a 3-BAR pump. I believe the NA is a 2-BAR model.

edit:
The P3025.1 pump used in the Sytec ITP332 kit is rated at 2 to 7 BAR?

end edit:

There are a lot of prices around. I found this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/400205704860 and it still runs my car.

The Pulsator is http://www.ebay.com/itm/272064279331?

I believe I used a Volvo fuel filter/bag at the pump - it fit the "well area" better.

Fuel pumps are generally sized based on flow (gpm or lpm) more than pressure, though they often associate a pressure with the flow. The pressure varies based on vacuum because of the Fuel Pressure Regulator, the FPR along with injector duty cycle are the only fuel variables when the car is running that will change the amount of fuel delivery you're getting. The pump between turbo and non-turbo Isuzus with the 4XE1 and 4XF1 engines are identical, I'd assume it's the same case with turbo and non-turbo Elan's, really that's all I wanted to verify.

In writing this, I've talked myself into believing they're the same, so I'll probably just snag one of those Sytecs and call it done. If I come to find that they aren't the same for some stupid reason (and it'd have to be stupid, it's literally the same pump for all 4XE and 4XF engines in Geos, Impulses, and Styluses), I'll post to let you all know.

The fitment in the tank assembly is different between the different cars. I tried several "GM" pumps before I found an exact fit except for the wire connections. I believe the GEO pump is different at one end and didn't sit in the housing very well.

I guess I should clarify, I mean that I'm convinced the fuel pumps between N/A and Turbo ELANs must be the same, and I'm drawing that conclusion from the fuel pumps in all 4XE1 and 4XF1 powered Geos/Isuzus being the same. I can tell just by looking at the fuel pump from the Elan that it doesn't match Geos and Isuzus, they're completely different gas tanks and configurations, the pump in the Elan is physically quite a bit smaller.

When I had my Geo Storm though, it was a base model with a single cam 4XE1, I upgraded to the dual cam 4XE1 (same as the N/A Elan), then added a turbo, then swapped to a 4XF1 with a turbo, and before I did it all I looked into the fuel pumps and found the same pump is used in all Geos/Isuzus using those engines, so I never changed the fuel pump from the original stock pump and I never once experienced a problem with fuel delivery.

That said, if all 4XE1 and 4XF1 powered Geos and Isuzus share the same fuel pump, then N/A and Turbo Elans using 4XE1 motors almost certainly use the same fuel pump between each other.

My non starter thread seems to have initiated a fuel pump discussion but I am glad to report that my fuel pump is ok and car has now sprung into life!!!!!!!!!! Briefly I checked pump and filter and loosened off fuel pressure relief valve but no fuel appeared so being a bit downcast so I went to a local Lotus specialist as advised from a reply post. PNM Wallasey were extremely helpful and warned me of the dangers of long term storage but offered to pick up my car and sort it out hopefully. That same day later a friend with lots of car experience offered to have a look and after a bit of starter motor cranking it coughed and spluttered until eventually would run on probably 1 cylinder since it really sounded rough We then took out all plugs and wire brushed them after which it started better on probably 2 cylinders but then it just burst into life on all 4 Music to my ears!!! The day before I sprayed all the multielectrical connectors and injector contacts with WD40 but I feel the problem was due to gummed up injectors all along even though I tapped them several times before. So now I have driven car out of garage and brakes not seized etc but plan to take it to PNM for fluid changes and a general look over before MOT . So I am very grateful for all the helpful suggestions given by everyone and now need to put all the hood compartment trim back when the sun is shining after a wash and polish. Thanks everyone

Thats great news that you got it started. It might be worth running a tin of Sea Foam though the injectors. I usually put in one tin to about half a tank of petrol. Seems to work better than any other fuel additive I've ever used and stopped the rough running on my Merc.
