How effective is the top heatshield?

Postby par » Mon 16.05.2016, 12:58

Just polling for views on how effective the top heatshield is (the one with Turbo embossed in it)?

I have now fitted the Piper manifold downpipe which leaves only one existing fixing point for the heatshield. It wouldnt be too difficult to add other brackets to make it more secure but just wondering if it is really needed.

Others have suggested reflective material on the underside of the bonnet, has anyone else done this with no ill effects?

If you don't place it back, your bonnet is prone to cracking in the gelcoat just above the turbo.
I would fabricate that bracket if I were you :P

Thanks HJ!

Was thinking about just having 2 fixing points but it seems 3 are the way to go to prevent any rattling.

I have only 2 in use: on the manifold heatshield and the PAS pump. This works fine for me.

However, 3 is better than 2...
