I watched a few minutes of the revamped Top Gear and thought; what a load of cack.

Yes, not inspiring at all nor engaging. I thought the Gordon Ramsey bit was cringeworthy and the chemistry was .................ummmmm............somewhere else. Shame really as whilst I'm not a 'massive' fan of Chris Evans, I do like his breakfast show and clearly he is hugely successful .................but perhaps Top Gear was too much of a hard task to continue to produce. I feel that Amazon Prime may get a few more subscribers than they originally thought.

I'll give it another go next week but if it continues then I won't be 'rushing' to get home to watch it, or accessing iPlayer!

I think they need to settle in to it. A lot. Too excitable by far for an old f**t like me. And, personally speaking, too much focus on average Americana. Old TG worked because a) all three were journalists, so they knew how to craft a story, and b) it was just like the kind of conversation three mates might have in the pub. This pair are presenters, not journos, and the dynamic is different.

Agree about Gordon Ramsay, though. He was the Star in a RPC when Pauline and I were in the audience in 2006; wonder what he thinks of the new format

The old TG reached it's best before date about ten years ago. It continued to be presented by three middle aged men with questionable dress sense. Nothing was new, no innovation - you were used to it and knew what to expect. They have just changed overpaid presenters and now you realise it has been cack all along.

Just watched Top Gear after reading all the reports beforehand, maybe I set my expectations really low after taking in the reports on here but to be honest I've seen the previous trio dish up worse. OK Chris Evans needs to chill out and stop trying too hard but I'll give it another go next week to see whether they gel a little more with practice.

Just watched it. Same stories & scripts. the last 3 could pull it off, not sure if the new 2 can. They need to drop this UK v USA crap. i'll give it half a series to see if it settles down. Evans trying too hard to be JC .

Watched this last night on iplayer with a member of the demographic target audience - my youngest - He really enjoyed it but he's only eight

Would agree that the concept might be a bit tired, but for me the real problem was that Clarkson et al became so predictable, lazy, and arrogant that it was impossible to distinguish the last four or five series as they used the same jokes as well as the same storylines/concepts - For example Clarkson driving into back of May for the 100th time is hardly cutting edge. I got so bored that I stopped watching the last few series leaving the kids to watch on their own.

Not sure as yet about the new presenters but thought at least an attempt has been made to freshen it up - For that reason I watched the whole episode for the first time in years, and will watch again - I wasnt k!instantly warmed by Evans or Le Blank but there again not turned off either and think when things settle down and it might well gel. The Arial piece was spot on in every aspect.

I thought it was pretty much the same as the previous series. The banter between the presenters seemed similar to Clarkson, Hammond & May.
The format is worn out & this is what had not been changed.

sounded like Evans was reading most of the voice overs for the first time....and they'd been written by a 5 year old.....

Better last night, I thought. Matt LeBlanc improving all the time, and someone has clearly told the producers to turn Mr Evans right down. Jensen was excellent; funny, informative, relaxed; would happily have watched more of him.

Worryingly, I think we also learned that Chris Evans can't actually handle a car to the standard required . . . Needs a few days serious training at a good racing school.

Glad I gave it a second chance, and hoping next week will be a further improvement.

Agree with the Jenson comments, thought it was OK, better than catching up on Soaps with the Missus that's for sure, although not sure that's a good yardstick to be measured against

Watched it last week and completely put off by Chris Evans shouting all the time. After all the hype I found the whole presentation banal and thought what a waste of my time.

This week I went in my garage and sorted 3 biscuit tins of old nuts and bolts into UNC, UNF and metric putting them in those big flat plastic boxes with 26 separate compartments - far more entertaining.
Got a +2 to work on so think the old nuts & bolts might be needed here and there ..

By the way, what is a 'Soap' ?
