The red one sold by jc cars on eBay is now advertised in auto trader at a garage 30 miles away for less than what it was sold for on eBay , not bad must have bought the car and fixed the gearchange issue and then decided to sell at a loss

The salesman told me he might have to take it off eBay then it turns up cheaper elsewhere

I wonder what eBay will make of it

The official numbers tells 0-100 km/h in 7.2s indeed (SE), while the real world tests tell around 7.1 (eg http://www.zeperfs.com/fiche1817-lotus-elan-se.htm)
0-60mph is obviously a little faster but the guy probably rounded it ... ^^

Autocar tested the SE in '91 and got 0-60 in 6.5s, when Lotus publicity said 6.7s, and a mean max in two directions on a windy day of 136 mph, when Lotus said 137 mph.
On an overnight blast to Monaco in my 'standard' '91 SE I hit the rev limiter (7,200 rpm) while in 5th gear, a very unpleasant experience, and later worked out from the gearing info' that would have been 150.48 mph.
Cool damp air gives a lot more power than hot dry air but Lotus have to quote for the worst case.

officially 0.7 secs faster than an MX5 which is just enough time for a top stylist to give you a Kevin Keegan perm. Remember there is often a half second gap between published 0-60 and 0-100km/h figures, often to do with a 2nd to 3rd gear change. some companies go for out and out acceleration as Lotus would have done 25 years ago. More modern machinery is often geared to pass artificial "drive past" regs and emissions regs.

As often said, M100 is nearer 6.5 secs to 60. Likewise 7.9secs for a 2 seat hair salon is a EU 0-100 figure, in USA a more realistic 0-60 of 6.9 sec is quoted.

Hi, I'm hopeless at posting links, but it's the one at the dealer called Thornes in Wolverhampton, and is still currently available.

Sadly, the car I viewed on Saturday wasn't for me. I felt awful for the owner because I haven't really got a good reason why I felt the way I did, and he had gone out of his way to be as helpful as possible. It's a mark of the man that he was incredibly understanding and pleasant, and we parted on good terms. I have no doubt he'll sell the car, there was a lot more interest than just mine.

Hi Rollerskate, Fredjohn went to see it and gave me his opinion, when I last phone the original salesman he fobbed me off then later told me it was stuck in gear and the mechanic was sorting it, then he wouldn't answer my call , then it was advertised elsewhere at a higher price

It's in Jamie N's neighbourhood, so I dare say that anyone from further afield could politely ask him to give it the once over before travelling a distance to view it for themselves.
