burn marks on ecu casing

HI All

I have removed the ecu today to identify the chip type , the chip type is delco anxz 9909 which i cannot seem to find on any forums , however the casing has brown what seem like burn marks around the threaded stubs with the rubber caps on.

Any ideas of the cause.

As you do not have a location on your profile, I am assuming you are UK based. If so your chip will either be 9929, 9930 or 9239 as standard, or later SE and S2 1499.
See the mountain chip link at the top of the page.
Alternatively do an elanscan which will tell you the promid (chip) number.

Edit added: just spotted anxz is the prefix code for the 9239 chip.

Can't help with burn marks other than is it a stain rather than a burn mark?

To be considering making a car faster when it has 'other than perfect brakes' is not a good idea to say the least
Get it up to the original spec' first. Then, in my opinion, first 'go-faster' mod should be a dump valve if you haven't got one. I prefer recirculating DV for their quiet operation.

Brakes first, performance second. Especially as the standard brakes are not considered the best unless they are perfectly well maintained and not sticking.

BUT I think you already have the 9239 anyway. None of the standard chips are performance upgrades per se anyway, they are just "different". Find someone local to you (where are u?) with an elanscan and find out for sure what you have.

You will only get a performance upgrade from the ECU by fitting a mountain chip designed for your specific promid (9929, 9930 9239 etc), as explained on the mountain chip website.

I am in rotherham, i have ordered all the brake refurb parts which should be delivered this week, Without the scan if i can get the serial numbers from the chip if they have them can i be 99% sure which chip it is.
