Everest Chip fitted - Didn't start - SORTED - my error!!!

Well I took the ECU out and fitted the Everest, put it back in and the car didn't start! Disconnected the battery again waited a few minutes, tried it and didn't start...

Took the ECU out and the everest out, put the ECU back in without chip and it started up just fine! What is wrong? Something has to the be wrong with the Chip, right?? Anyone have this problem or know how to fix it would be great appreciated!

P.S When I looked up where the ECU was their was a black plug that had a blue and orange wire, a grey and blue wire and just a plain grey wire fitted to it that said Ford on it, where does that go and what is it?? This is a Federal Car btw.

A Ford plug? I don't recall mine having one of those. I thought all the electricals were Vauxhall/GM.

Where did you get the Everest chip? Did you buy it new? If it had the wrong Memcal on, I would expect it would run with errors.
I've not heard of one not running at all before. When my ECU failed with a chip installed, it still ran but in limp mode.

Did you ensure it was seated firmly & the original memcal seated firmly onto the Everest?

The exact same thing happened to me last night! After months of waiting I finally came to fit my Everest... epic fail though as the car refused to start - it just turned over and over but wouldn't fire up. Minor Panic!!  . So I took the chip out and everything was fine - car ran perfectly. So I tried fitting the chip again but this time I realised that I hadn't actually seated the chip correctly the first time around on to the ECU board - even though the two end clips appeared to be locked and holding it in place I hadn't pushed the chip firmly enough. Second time around there was a definite difference as the chip seemed to 'click in to place' and was seated noticeably closer to the ECU board.

I then put the ECU back in and hey presto... car running sweet and boosting to 0.9bar

So I would recommend you make absolutely sure the chip is seated correctly on to the ECU board. Press it quite firmly and it should click in to place. Then lock it in position with the two end clips.

Thats exactly what happened to me, it just wouldn't fire!!
Yes the chip is brand new and came from Alan himself. I'll give it another go and see what happens. Maybe I didn't have it secured all the way, but man I thought I did...

Fixed it!! I guess I didn't have it secured down all the way!

Took it out for a small run and felt a little difference not to much, but it was only like a mile! Need to change my coolant tank, it has a small crack where the hose connects to it, not terrible but it does leak. I'll let you guys know how it goes once I get that fixed! All in all though, I'm happy!!

The M100 is doing excellent! The boost is awesome and with my piper 2.25 exhaust it makes a great sound! Couldn't be any happier! Onto the next upgrade!

Sounds like we have a very similar similar setup. I got a Piper 2.25 with PCE fitted a few months ago - an awesome upgrade and it free'd up so much power (so much that I had to get my wastegate posted to stop boost creep). Now I've just fitted my Everest. Initially I was slightly disappointed as I was expecting a massive WOW factor but having driven the car more over the last couple of days I am VERY happy with it! The 0.9 boost does make a big difference and you can also play with the turbo a lot more... holding it on 0.5 for a split second then launching to 0.9 Oh yes I've been having some fun.

What's your next upgrade plan? For me all I have left is a dump valve (I have a Forge FMCL007P recirculating valve waiting to be fitted - to be plumbed into airbox to minimise noise) and then of course brakes (Hi Spec probably) - essential now I have the extra power.

I have emission testing where I'm from so I don't have the PCE sadly!
I have done that too... 0.5 than to .9 boost! It's great!

My next upgrades are wheels, brakes and short shifter. The wheels that I have ordered are from the UK and are being custom built by team dynamics. They will be 16x7 with an offset of 45mm. Having the width of them being 7" and the offset being 45 it should be close enough to 60mm offset to the original! Reasom they are custom built i needed the right bore size. I bought some sport, slotted and drilled rotors from a friend of mine who will give me them at LOG and than I'll added EBC yellow stuff to them so my brakes will be upgraded! After that I'll get the short shifter upgrade and I bought the samco houses from the group but so I'll be putting them on as well!

Question: when I boost, my gauge sometimes goes past 1... Is this a bad result where I need to port the wastegate? It's not to bad but it worries me a little. Once I hit .9 or 1 I shift, so as long as I do that I shouldn't have any problems haha

The standard boost gauge is notoriously inaccurate. Use it as a very rough guide only.

Interesting that the seating of the board was the issue in two cases. I wonder if a few of the exchanges I've sent out have been down to the same thing. I'll update my instructions .

I'm getting sport and slotted rotors from a friend of mine at LOG to upgrade the brakes when I get back! I'll be using EBC Yellowstuff pads on them to get the car to stop better. I'll put those on when my wheels come in which should be next week!

Help.
Purchased an Everest chip for my m100. Installed it and feel like I followed Alan's directions to a tee.
The first time I started the car, the CEL came on and wouldn't go away. I did not test drive it.
I then checked my work and reinstalled it. The car would not turn over.
I remove the chip and reinstalled the ECU.
Car is fine again.
But really want to make the Everest chip work.
Any suggestions, even with the little information I provided?

Are you sure you have the right chip for your car the S1 chip is different than the S2 chip ?

Gription's car is a US/FED model, so the S2 chip (if that is what he got) is probably OK.

The boards are a bugger to snap (PRESS HARD") into the ECM, so that is something easy to check. The release levers will close toward the new board when the board is installed correctly.
