1991 Steel Blue SE (SOLD)

Postby Sprite » Sun 14.08.2016, 01:04

Although this appears to be my first post, I have actually been around the forum for quite a few years, but usually under my ex-partners username (Nattie). Some of you may recognise the car, as it was previously advertised last year under this post:

viewtopic.php?f=49&t=24379

...but it now has a reduced price, the niggles are now rectified and it has an MOT until August 2017. It would benefit from some cosmetic tidying doing to make it 100% but its a good solid base which has had most of the expensive and difficult work completed. Full spec below....

Image

MOT August 2017
Hi-spec front disc and calliper upgrade
Galvanised S2 upper and lower rear wishbones
Kilimanjaro chip
Thatcham Cat1 Gemini alarm and immobiliser
Corbeau bucket seats
Sparco steering wheel and gear knob
Rear wind deflector
K&N element air filter
Bailey recirculating blow off valve
Toyo Proxies all round
All chassis parts stone chip protected and waxoil injected
Original Lotus tool kit
Lotus workshop manual
Huge folder of receipts/history and original brochures etc.

I have personally completed much of the work on this car over the past 9 years, with the view to it being a "keeper". Sadly personal circumstances have now changed and it no longer gets used, but it would be nice if it could go to a forum member (or future member) to complete. If there is no interest it will be going on Pistonheads or Autotrader shortly.

Thanks guys, it is indeed still located in North Nottinghamshire. I live out in the middle of nowhere, about 15 miles north of Newark on Trent.

Cheers

Hi,
Looks interesting, as a bit of a novice I would like to understand more about the car

Please advise what additional jobs need to be done. When would it be possible to view the car ?
Many thanks ,
Roger

Great looking car - haven't seen one in that colour before, one of the best colours I would say !!

Interested to see what seats it has in it ?

Sorry for the delay folks, been away with work for a couple of days.

It's still available (I've not yet had the time to give it a good clean, get some good photos and write the advert). With regard to jobs that need doing, I would advise getting the cambelt changed in the near future as its getting due on age although no where near due on mileage. I did the tensioner and water pump last time, so it would be personal preference if you wanted to replace these again, but there is probably very little wear on them. Other than that, it's the cosmetic things that you would expect with original paintwork at that mileage - a fair few stone chips when you look closely, small damage to the lower front lip where it's caught a curb and a few scratches from car parks etc. It's not a concourse example, but you'd be hard pressed to notice a lot of these things when more than a few steps away. Same for the interior (which I'll hopefully get photos of soon, but it's dusty as hell at the moment!) - The paint on the door handles is flaking slightly and the rubber cover around the handbrake handle is missing. None of it would be difficult to fix or even necessary, as it's been like this in the 9 years we've owned the car, we were just more interested in making sure it was mechanically sound as the fun is in driving these cars!

...and as you can tell by the mileage, we drove it a lot! :burnout:

With regard to the previous owner, it was some time ago and we weren't club members then. I do remember that the chap was a solicitor who had just bought it as a runaround while he was having an argument with Porsche over the engine in his Boxter which had died. So I'm not sure if that fits the description of anyone on here? We did the Donington meet for a few years, so some people might recognise the car from there (although that was also some time ago).

If anyone is still interested in viewing, drop me a PM and we should be able to arrange a time :)

I'm fairly sure my pal (F)Lawrence from Tomintoul had this car from new for few years. The reg. plate looks familiar and he kept it very tidy looking. It could well have gone to ESM somewhere down the line

Would it be possible to get a simple answer to a simple question ? When would it be possible to view the car with the possibility of purchase ? If you sense my frustration, you are correct, since I have already asked this question for no reply. If you are really interested in using this media as a sale tool then surely it is in your interest to respond to genuine requests ? Thank you , Roger.

Hi Roger,

I've sent you a PM with my contact details on and some options on days. As you can probably appreciate, for security reasons it tends not to be best to give a list of times when you are at home and when you aren't on a open forum!

Hopefully hear from you soon.

Went to see the car this morning ( 27 Aug 16 ) and I have to say that it is an honest lot. It will never make the top grade but if you want something to have fun with, this could be right. There is plenty of documentation for bedtime reading.
