Vacuum pipe engine to maybe a vacuum sensor

Help please. Whilst driving merrily down the M1 this morning, went to overtake a slower car and power disappeared, couldn't believe it was stuck wastegate as I knew it was free. Limped to Watford gap services when enging seemed like it was mis firing, and upon slowing into the car park it cut out, but fired up again enough to get me into a space. Upon examining the engine, saw that a pipe that comes from the left of it and near the back, then disappears towards the bulkhead, had sheared/snapped at the 90 degree turn. It is plastic and comes out of a nut and attaches to a piece of rubber hose about 2 inches long.
Upon holding it back in place the engine started normally but when I took it off there was a suction noise and the engine died.
Did a temporary repair with insulating tape and drove 130 miles further to my destination in Sussex, it ran fine but I didn't thrash the accelerator, only took it steady up to 70mph.
Spoke to SJ's who said that part is obselete, (didn't tell me what it was called, hence the long winded description) and that would need to have one turned out of brass.
My questions being, does anyone on here know of a quick fix from another car part, and would I be right in assuming that my temporary fix will be ok to get me back to Notts ok (200 miles) or has anyone got a contact who they have had manufacture one of these?

Many thanks Geoff, fingers crossed it will last for now. If I manage a solution I will post it on here.

MAP sensor appears to be mended and working fine (for now anyway)
In case it helps anyone else, I glued the broken plastic pipe back on with superglue, left it to set for half an hour, then wrapped the joint in rubberised tape. That got me back home but didn't accelerate heavily. This morning have coated the lot with Tiger Seal, taken it for a spin and boost gauge is a constant 0.6 bar foot to the floor in 3rd.

You sound like a man who needs a Mountain chip.

Thanks John, but I think mountain chip is out of the question, I get the collywobbles when it hits 90mph, so will keep her as she is
