NOS M100 Windscreen

Postby Brit-Car-Nut » Thu 22.09.2016, 14:57

I just got a note from Robert at Stratton Motors telling me he has a Windscreen he just got from Lotus that has a small chip at a corner and a few scratches.

He ordered one for a customer car and the first two that arrived were boxed OK but were broken inside the boxes.

This is the last one from Lotus stock and it was stored away in the basement as OK, but slightly damaged.

The Lotus price is £485.00 but this one is available to anyone for £125.00: First buyer wins.

Call Robert at:

Stratton Motor Company
Ipswich Road,
Long Stratton,
NR15 2XJ
Tel 01508 530491

It is boxed and can be shipped, but you will need to make those arrangements with Robert.

Don't let this get away if you need a replacement windscreen

Are you suggesting that there are no more windscreens and therefore every time one is broken the car will be effectivly written off? Cus this is what it sounds like!

As I understand it, Lotus is not going to stock them any more. They are still available from the Glass House Suppliers but with demand being low, they are ever increasing in price.

This one was the last one and was shoved into a corner because of the slight damage.

I would expect that most owners have a 'windscreen' clause on their insurance policy, with whatever excess is demanded (circa £50-£75). As such, not many windscreens will/would be sold to owners - and I'm surprised that Lotus still actually stock them themselves anyway.

Autowindscreens (who replaced mine a few years ago) had no problems in getting one within 24 hours from their own suppliers, not from Lotus, so would expect the situation to be pretty much as it always has been....

....obviously, the lack of supplies from the Factory *may* affect those who are not insured at the time of need (SORN restoration?), or those who simply wish to replace one which may not be eligible under their policy (delamination?) - but I can't see why they wouldn't be available from elsewhere.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
