Help needed re B pillar caps

Lotus Elan M100 SE B post caps (pair L/H & R/H) Late Style

Hello all, ive purchased a pair of B post caps but I now require the brackets and springs to attach them to the B posts. Has anyone had this problem and where did you source the brackets and springs from....if they are available??

Also re rubber seals roof and windscreen. All are okish but I do need to add/fill small areas. Does anyone know of a black rubber compound I can use to do this or any alternative?? Cant afford to replace seals until completely gone.

Are you sure you got the right covers for your model? There are two designs: Early and Later. They are not interchangeable.

There are no brackets or remote springs for the later style caps, just a spring that is built inside the hinges. The late style hinges are now obsolete.

The early style brackets are obsolete from Lotus but probably available from a breaker and the early springs are still available from Lotus B100U0240F for £3.09 each.
The early brackets are not excessively complicated so you could make up a set using some angled metal. Maybe someone near you will let you take some measurements so you can fab up a set?

Hi thanks for your reply. Yes they are correct and are the earlier version. One is still on so I can see the bracket and spring. I think I may need to make one up as you suggest.

Anyone have any thoughts on a black rubber paste/putty or something that I can use on slightly perished rubbers to fill in small areas.

I have used a rubber compound called 'SuGru' which is available through Amazon it's a bit like playdo.

Justin the black rubber stuff could be as TrevorB says or sikaflex which comes in tubes like mastic and sets like rubber in the air. I've not used sugaru but have used a rubber type black stuff which never stops being sticky so is no good for seals. Sikaflex can be covered in clingfilm to mold to shape as required

I have tried silkaflex but found the SuGru easier to mould.

I've not tried Sikaflex as it seemed wasteful for the small amount I needed but I have tried Sugru on my A pillar seals with mixed results. The first time I used it I put it on top of some previously applied silicone sealant and it worked really well and stayed in place for months before eventually falling off. I then removed all the old bits of sealant and some of the seal too (accidentally, it crumbled off!) and filled it with Sugru. This time it didn't stay stuck and sheared off when I closed the window! I've not given up on it yet though and it has stayed stuck elsewhere. Only this evening I had another go with some black sealant and plan to add some sugru when it is dry if necessary.
I've been putting off buying new seals too, but I think now the time has come.

Most ALL of the seals are now obsolete. Lotus still offers A-Pillar seals at £100.26 each. I believe SJs have S2 header seals and SW Lotus has some of the stowage cover and boot seals. I don't know anyone that is offering falling pillar or intermediate seals now but they are all very dear and a remortgage might be needed.
