quick opinion poll - (coilpack)

Postby steble » Thu 13.10.2016, 07:12

Hi guys,

After reading a lot on here over the past couple of days I've found myself struggling with which coilpacks to purchase. I have narrowed it down to two brands. I was hoping a few of you could point me in the direction of the ones I should pick, as you all have far more Elan knowledge than me.

The two are:

NGK for £31 each
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361291558494?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Or
MSD 8224 for £59, there are some in the uk on amazon currently.

The question is, are the MSD ones worth double the money of the NGK ones? Are they that much better :s

Thanks in advance
Steve

Hi there. I went down to my local auto spares shop last week and just bought them straight off the shelf. They were I think about £50. For a pair.

Reliability is hard to judge unless you have a large sample & measure the failure rate.
Do you really gain any extra performance from a set of coils? Unlikely unless you really push them to the limit & I doubt the Elan would get anywhere close.

If I needed to replace mine now, I would go for the NGKs.

This is the thought path I knew made more sense.

Its the lure of uprated components! haha
