......whilst it would fit, and do the job for now, i personally would want to know that the 'o' ring was made of a suitable material to cope with petrol without rotting or bursting under pressure.

Many 'rubber' o rings are not compatable with petrol and surely, for the sake of 55p each, it's worth going for a proper one.

Do you really want your passenger compartment to be filled with petrol vapour/fumes/liquid under high pressure - passing through the fusebox and battery compartment on the way????????????

Bottom line is that I had enough thinking to do without worying about sticking callipers on the ring.

I can let you have a knackered fitting, with a squashed 'o' ring, and an old filter if you want to see what will fit?

Does anyone know where I can get this fitting from? The thread pitch is 1.5 mm

Easy in the US, but I don't know UK. Try searching "gm fuel filter line repair"

Dorman # 800-153 or 800-170 are 3/8" repair lines with 16mm male fittings.

Probably available on eBay or Amazon if nowhere else.

Having replaced a standard filter - using Dave's guide and the Wiki, the next time I do it I expect I'll start over with something like this

Kind of hard to connect the nylon line to that kind of filter and using a fabric hose over the nylon line requires using a metal insert to prevent the line from collapsing.

Dorman also makes barbed adapters for the nylon lines that make the transition to metal lines easy and safe.

Some things just seem daft !
Yes I had to cut one of the hard pipes off to untwist the fuel filter off. I was wondering how to get the hard pipe back on but maybe that ain't gonna happen !!
I did put some new rubber o rings on but sounds like that ain't gonna work either .

Received my new O rings from SJs yesterday so the filter is now back on with a new bit of pipe.

Let's hope it is a proper petrol resistant type and not just a normal one !!
