But I suspect not, the TR7 is widely recognised here, and like most British Leyland cars of the 70s, seen as a bit of joke (though not to me!!). And I'd imagine that's why they chose it.
Whereas most people wouldn't know what an Elan is, and is in a different class anyway (though maybe I'm biased there)!

When you say most people wouldn't know what an Elan is are you referring to the M100?

The one and only. I first met him when he and Del were at Atlantic Garage in Weston, then a few years later when he had gone independent at Banwell. We soon established that he had bought my first Sprint off the man I sold it to back in 1981, and I had since bought it back again. a great friendship was born (and I still own that same car).
