Metallic Green is a great colour for an Elan. (Not so sure about the yellow wheels, but I guess "in for a penny ..."). I suspect that Rambo remembers you giving Sy his wheels!

Now let's organise a get-together. (My nephew will be starting a job in Torquay in the summer).

And there in lies the reason i couldn't buy it . Which is a shame as i have just bought a somewhat inferior S2 by comparison that i am now getting fully resprayed .
I should have just bought stripey and un striped it in metallic racing green .

It really is a good buy of a car . ( my old rear lights my old S2 wheels !)

All I know is that if the stock OEM brake system is "correctly and properly maintained" and the proportioning valves are working correctly ther are no problems bringing you to a stop. But I also know that the choice of Hi Spec and/or PNM is a helluva lot better

I'm disappointed - nobody mentioned the AP brake upgrade...

I would have Dave, but I've no experience of the AP Racing brake upgrade. I think Stephen (par) has them on Scott's old car so he may be able to offer some first hand info.

I think if money had been no object I'd have gone down that route for the Black Beast but the PNM front brake (Hi Spec) upgrade does exactly what I want ie it makes my car stop quicker

He'd want it to go to a good home and I think you'd be one of a few that he would consider

Yes I have the 16" AP Racing brakes on my car. Here are a few of my thoughts:-

Peformance - they stop the car very well although I must state I have never driven an Elan with standard brakes so cant really quantify in terms of improvement over standard. I have owned previous cars with 4 pot set ups such as Brembo's etc. and these compare in braking ability on the road but havent tested them to extreme on a track.



Maintenance - while they might not need as regular fettling as the standard set up they are not fit and forget. The car had been stored in a dealers warehouse for some time before I bought it and there was some imbalance, I possibly could have got away with just changing the seals but got them fully rebuilt with new pistons & seals.

Costs - expensive to buy new but were already fitted when I bought mine. Parts also expensive, I had to fit a new disc when I first got it as the dealer only fitted 1 new one to get it through the MOT, price was around £220 per disc.



Would I buy again - Used - If already fitted to the car, yes I would be happy to buy a car with these fitted and refurbish if necessary. New - If replacing standard brakes on a car would probably go down the Hi Spec/PNM route as a more cost effective upgrade with very little difference (if any) in performance.

This car was commented on a couple of years back. IIRC it was a flood damaged Kia Elan and was originally up for a very low price and then the price went up and up (with the same seller) and these photos appear to be the same as before so the dealer must still have it. I stand to be corrected though............
