My rocker cover has been ground by a previous owner, and I actually bought an original one ... which I still need to fit, one day ... :-D)

Nor me. I can't understand it either. Great little engines

The previous owner of my NMY ground off the Isuzu but left the hyphen. Plain daft if you ask me as it now reads.................... - LOTUS

Yes there is the hyphen on mine too ... and a Lotus sticker on the ground surface! :? (and what's more the black spark plug cover is a bit scrapped because I suspect it has been ground in situ! oO)
I really need to install the one I bought!

Interestingly though (and as mentioned elsewhere on this site), when I bought a spare cam cover at the Aftersales event for Lotus' 60th at Hethel, it came without the Isuzu casting - just the single word LOTUS.

From the shape of the cover, it is obvious that it was cast like it and not removed afterwards...... a few were amongst the final ones they had in stock.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?
